Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 12, 2026
This policy explains what Ask Alona LLC collects, how the site uses AI and profile memory, and how to ask for access, correction, or deletion.
Who we are
Ask Alona LLC operates this site and related profile, invite, follow, AI sorting, and project update features.
You can contact us at info@askalona.com for privacy, memory, profile, deletion, or account questions.
What we collect
We collect information you choose to submit, such as your name, email address, how you are connected to Alona, project details, profile notes, links, messages, and free-form text you type or dictate into the site.
When you use AI sorting, your submitted text may be sent to our server and to our AI service provider so a structured profile or project draft can be generated.
We may also receive basic technical information from hosting and security systems, such as timestamps, browser information, IP-derived metadata, device information, and error logs.
If support contributions or payments are enabled later, payment information will be handled by Stripe or another payment provider. We should not store your full payment card details.
Where information is stored
Public profile pages, approved profile memory, invite requests, account status, future follows, and future project records may be stored in our platform cloud so the site can work across devices and for public visitors.
Temporary text that you type or dictate may stay in your browser until you submit it. Once submitted, it can be stored or processed by our server and service providers depending on the feature you use.
Some services store data on our behalf, including Supabase for app data and authentication, Vercel for hosting and logs, OpenAI for AI processing, and Stripe for payments if support contributions are enabled.
How we use information
We use information to review invite and follow requests, generate profile drafts, maintain profiles and project pages, improve the site, respond to messages, prevent abuse, and operate security and infrastructure.
We do not currently sell personal information or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising. If that changes, this policy should be updated first.
AI, memory, and profile drafts
Memory means profile, project, follow, and account information that you choose to save or that is needed to manage your request. It does not mean the site records everything you say forever.
Dictation turns speech into text in the browser when your browser supports it and when you allow microphone access. The text in the form can then be submitted or sent for AI sorting.
AI sorting is used to turn free-form text into draft profile fields, project fields, and possible answers to questions about you. Nothing becomes public automatically just because AI drafted it.
Future account tools should let users review, edit, delete, or export saved profile memory. Until those controls exist, email info@askalona.com to request changes or deletion.
Visitor questions and owner insights
When visitors ask questions about a profile, we may store limited question information so the profile owner can see what people wanted to know and improve their approved memory.
For V1, the product direction is to keep raw visitor questions only as long as needed, then use shorter summaries such as common topics, unanswered questions, and suggested memory updates.
We should avoid storing unnecessary identifiers with question insights unless needed for safety, abuse prevention, debugging, or legal reasons.
How we share information
We may share information with service providers that help operate the site, including hosting, database, AI, email, analytics, security, and payment providers.
We may disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, to prevent abuse, or as part of a business transfer.
Public profile and project information may be visible to visitors once a user chooses to publish it or once it is approved for public display.
Your choices
You can choose not to submit optional information. Some features, like follows or accounts, may require basic contact information and approval.
You can request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of information associated with you by emailing info@askalona.com. Some requests may require verification and may be subject to legal or security exceptions.
California residents may have privacy rights including rights to know, delete, correct, limit certain sensitive uses, opt out of sale or sharing where applicable, and non-discrimination for exercising privacy rights.
Security and retention
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, but no internet service is perfectly secure.
We keep information for as long as needed to operate the site, manage requests, maintain records, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and improve safety. We should delete, archive, or anonymize information when it is no longer needed.
Children
This site is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child provided personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy as the product changes. The updated date above shows when this page was last changed.
